Introducing Pilgrimaps

Religious and cultural tourism is growing exponentially, pilgrimage routes in particular. But there is not a single specialized media featuring, advertising, and promoting them. That’s why we decided to launch PilgriMaps.

PilgriMaps is a media outlet, powered by Viator Media, that offers top-of-class storytelling in a distinctively unique online platform that aims at gathering as many pilgrimage paths sites and stories as possible in an interwoven, ever-growing map.

PilgriMaps aims at becoming the definitive online guide to the places of the spirit, introducing readers to the awe-inspiring cultural inheritance of religious traditions around the globe, focusing on three variants: 1) places and pilgrimages, 2) storytelling, and 3) gastronomy and hospitality.

PilgriMaps includes a vast, always ongoing archive, presenting those unfamiliar with world spiritual traditions with relatable experiences that spark curiosity and thirst for more.

In its first stage, PilgriMaps will focus on developing content regarding the pilgrimage routes of the Mediterranean (Europe, the Middle East, and Northern Africa), targeting and growing audiences in designated cities in the United States and Latin America, and in some major European capitals, building alliances with the organizations in charge of developing and maintaining these pilgrimage routes, as well as with touristic entities in Europe and the Middle East. This, to be strategically positioned for the coming 2025 Roman Jubilee.

People of all ages and faiths go on pilgrimages to holy places. Even today, millions of believers every year go to Guadalupe, Mecca or Varanasi. In recent decades, and thanks above all to the experience of the Camino de Santiago, the world has rediscovered pilgrimages as a form of eco- sustainable tourism, as a personal transformative experience, and as a meeting point for people of different cultures and paths of life. As we like to put it, the road bring us together.
