Viator Media and the Andean Baroque Route Announce New Cooperation Agreement

On March 1st, 2024, Viator Media signed a new partnership to showcase the Andean Baroque Route. This unique half-day excursion unveils some of the many cultural and historical treasures found in the Peruvian South Valley, an ancient trade route predating the Incas.

Travelers will be awe-struck by the dignity of four historic churches: one in Cusco and three in the South Valley – the geographical space that connects the capital of the Inca Empire with the jungle of Madre de Dios and Lake Titicaca. Each of these churches is adorned with stunning Baroque architecture. Beyond these architectural marvels, the route goes through the archaeological wonders of Tipon and Rumicolca and gives pilgrims the opportunity to witness traditional craftsmanship at the weaving factory in Lucre.

The South Valley, embraced by the Vilcanota River, offers a breathtaking backdrop to this cultural immersion. As they walk through this route, pilgrims discover charming villages teeming with local life celebrating their deep-rooted faith.

“The Andean Baroque Route is more than just a collection of temples,” said Silvia Costantini, Chief Communications and Institutional Relations Officer at Viator Media. “It is a privileged gateway to Peru’s fascinating past and a vibrant present. Through this partnership, we are committed to showcasing this hidden gem and supporting the local communities who preserve its rich heritage. By choosing this route, you’re not just experiencing history: you’re contributing to its sustainable future.”
