Viator Media signs an agreement to promote the Ignatian Way

On Jan 9th 2024 Viator Media signed a new Collaboration Agreement with OACI - Oficina del Peregrino del Camino Ignaciano. This collaboration aims at widely promoting the Camino Ignaciano –the Ignatian Way.

With the approval of the Society of Jesus, a group of laypeople and Jesuits are recreating a pilgrimage route that retraces the footsteps of Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. The goal is to revive this living tradition for the 21st century.

The Camino Ignaciano begins in the Basque Country, near the village of Azpeitia, Ignatius’ birthplace. The route covers hundreds of kilometers through picturesque mountains, deserts, and verdant plains, ending in the town of Manresa (near Barcelona). Ignatius spent several months in Manresa, where he experienced profound spiritual enlightenment and composed his spiritual masterpiece, the Spiritual Exercises.

Pilgrims on the Camino Ignaciano will follow the same route Ignatius did, passing through many of the same towns, praying at the same churches, and witnessing the same natural wonders that inspired him.

For Viator Media, this agreement is a significant step towards their primary goal: compiling and promoting all the pilgrimage routes in the world through fresh and innovative storytelling, while advocating for a sustainable way of traveling – one that also fosters interreligious and intercultural dialogue, assisting people connect with themselves, with others, and with nature.
